Must haves

Leicester City have really found some form of late and with a clean sheet last gameweek, we are banking on them keeping another this week against Sunderland. Sunderland couldn’t find a way past a struggling Watford at the weekend and for this reason, the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Christian Fuchs and co will find themselves in many fantasy teams this week. Another fixture in which there is clean sheet potential is Burnley vs Stoke. Burnley have only conceded 3 goals in their last 4 home fixtures, with those coming in the trickier ties against Chelsea and Spurs. To boost their hopes of a clean sheet, Stoke have averaged less than a goal a game over their last 10 and only 1 in their last 5 away games. Therefore, we are backing the likes of Tom Heaton or Ben Mee to bring home the fantasy points.

Midfielders

In the middle of the park there are a few decent options this gameweek. As already mentioned, Leicester City have a favourable fixture against Sunderland and therefore Riyad Mahrez will be a popular pick this week. The Algerian has 2 goals from Leicester’s last 3 league games and with the form the man in front of him is in, he should be able to get in on the act this week. West Brom are currently riding high in 8th position, which is much down to the form of their midfielders such as Nacer Chadli and James Morrison. Both of these guys will be looking to continue this form and beat a frail side as the Baggies take a trip to Watford midweek.

Forwards

Completing the Leicester City coverage across the team, Jamie Vardy now has 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games for the Foxes. Coming up against Sunderland, he will be looking to increase that and ensure Leicester pick up the points given some of the tough fixtures they still have to come. Coming back from his ban this week is Zlatan Ibrahimovic and he will want to come back with a bang. Up against Everton, he may not have it all his own way, but his return is sure to galvanise United and he will look to grab at least a goal. He will need to get back onto goalscoring form ASAP if he wants to get back in the golden boot race too!

Must-nots

Defence

Everton have recently lost two of their main defenders in the form of Seamus Coleman and Funes Mori. Their defensive struggles showed in the Merseyside derby as Liverpool swept them aside to continue their impressive home derby run. That being said, Everton take a midweek trip to Old Trafford and may find it tough against Mourinho’s men who will be looking to push for the top 4. With this in mind, Leighton Baines and Ashley Williams may warrant being avoided this week. As noted above, Jamie Vardy and co will be confident about increasing their goal tallies against Sunderland, thus the Black cats’ players such as Jordan Pickford and John O’Shea should be avoided when picking your fantasy teams. To add to this, Sunderland have conceded in 4 of their last 5 so the odds seem to be stacking up against them…

Midfielders

Stoke see themselves facing a midweek visit to Burnley. The Potters have only scored 1 goal in their last 3 Premier League fixtures and with no attacking return from Marko Arnautovic in 3 games, he should be one to avoid this week. Another player who has been failing to find the back of the net of late is Etienne Capoue. The Watford playmaker started the season with 4 goals in his first 5 games, but since then he has only managed a single goal and therefore is on our list of must-nots this gameweek.

Forwards

Jermain Defoe and Sunderland have now failed to score in their last 5 fixtures and this rut will not be any easier to climb out of this week as they come up against in-form Leicester City this gameweek. Although Defoe managed to grab a goal on his England call up, he may just be one to avoid this week. Salomon Rondon has really struggled to find any form in the past few games and has even struggled to get 90 minutes. The Venezuelan hasn’t scored since his hat-trick in gameweek 16 and this may not change this gameweek either, despite the not so tricky opposition in Watford.
