The transfer window will slam shut in merely a matter of hours but all of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to strengthen before the deadline. The Gunners have already signed Mikel Merino and are have been linked with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, but could instread turn their attention to Bournemouth’s Neto. Kingsley Coman and Raheem Sterling have also been linked in attack.

Chelsea, meanwhile, remain interested in a new striker. Ivan Toney is a target heading into the closing stages of the window, although Victor Osimhen remains on the radar too and an offer is said to have been submitted for the Napoli striker, after Romelu Lukaku has joined the Italian club.

Chelsea are said to have approached Napoli tonight and will submit an official offer for Victor Osimhen.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, with it claimed that it is a loan deal with an obligation to buy that has been proposed.

Chelsea are in talks with Osimhen over his salary demands, while Al-Ahli are waiting to see if the potential move to Stamford Bridge collapses.

Arsenal turn to Neto in goalkeeper search

Confirmation of the deal is now imminent, and the midfielder is expected to complete his £50.7m (€60m) move from Paris Saint-Germain in time to face Liverpool this weekend.

Arsenal stance on Raheem Sterling

The 29-year-old out is looking for a move before tomorrow’s deadline, after Enzo Maresca made it clear he is not in his Chelsea players.

The Independent report that Arsenal would require Sterling to settle his current deal with Chelsea, and will not go above £150,000-a-week as a contract offer.

Sterling is currently on £325,000-a-week.

Ipswich consider alternatives to Armando Broja

Armando Broja’s proposed move to Ipswich has fallen through due to the Albanian failing a medical.

An issue was detected at his medical, scuppering an agreed deal whereby Broja was due to join Ipswich on a loan move with a £30million obligation to buy.

Chelsea are hoping to move Broja on before the end of the transfer window, after a lack of football for the Blues in recent seasons and a failed loan move to Fulham in the second half of last term.

Ipswich have looked at Odsonne Edouard of Crystal Palace — and he is high up on their list of alternatives — but he is not understood to be their favoured choice.

Ipswich’s search for a striker is fast-moving, and the Tractor Boys intend to sign a forward on deadline day.

Palace, meanwhile, will listen to any official bid for Edouard. He faces a lack of game time now that Eddie Nketiah has signed from Arsenal for £30m to provide first-choice striker Jean-Philippe Mateta with competition.

Romelu Lukaku has completed a move to Napoli.

The Belgian international has ended a nightmare second spell at Chelsea by retuning with Antonio Conte for around £30m.

Lukaku won Serie A under Conte’s stewardship at Inter Milan in 2021 and his form saw the Blues splash out £97.5m to bring the striker back to Stamford Bridge later that year.

That move proved unsuccessful and Lukaku last played for the London club in May 2022, joining both Inter and Roma on loan in recent years.

Lukaku has signed a three-year contract in Naples and his arrival could pave the way for Victor Osimhen to leave the club.

It looks like Jadon Sancho won’t be ending up at Chelsea this week after all.

The Blues had been in talks over a shock late swoop for the England winger after Manchester United also began discussions over the signing of Raheem Sterling.

But Juventus were also said to be in negotiations over Sancho, with RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins now claiming that the Serie A giants have reached an agreement over an initial loan deal that includes an obligation to buy next summer.

Sancho is said to be keen on the move to Turin.

Wilfried Zaha’s return to the Premier League has been all-but ruled out due to tax issues.

Crystal Palace and Leicester had both discussed possible season-long loan deals for Zaha, but in both cases a solution that worked for all parties could not be found.

Palace chairman Steve Parish gave an interview to talkSPORT this month in which he revealed that a loan deal for Zaha was not possible this summer despite admitting he would re-sign the Ivorian “in a heartbeat”.

Zaha was able to fulfil a career target last season, playing in the Champions League for the first time in his career after joining Galatasaray for free last summer upon the expiry of his contract at Palace.

But he has since fallen out of favour for last season’s Turkish Super Lig champions and did not feature in last night’s Champions League play-off defeat to Young Boys of Switzerland.

Arsenal are finalising a deal worth up to £32.6m to sign Spain midfielder Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad, writes Simon Collings.

Merino has agreed terms on a long-term contract and travelled to England at the weekend to undergo his medical.

Arsenal would like to sign a forward next and there could be further departures.

Signing Osimhen is more of a priority for Chelsea as they target a new No9.

The Napoli striker would prefer to join Paris Saint-Germain but Chelsea hope to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge.

Osimhen has ruled out a move to Saudi Arabia are turning down an offer from Al-Ahli over the weekend, with his agent saying the 25-year-old still had “much to do in Europe”.

Neymar will not rejoin Barcelona.

Press reports from the winger’s native Brazil had claimed such a move was on the cards but an official statement from his management team have cleared the record.

It read: “The articles on Ney’s return to Barcelona from Al Hilal are LIES and tremendous disrespect for Al Hilal and the athlete.

“Neymar is under contract with Al Hilal and he’s happy in Riyadh. Soon he returns to the pitch to delight the fans.”

Meanwhile, the Spanish giants have finally registered Dani Olmo for LaLiga action after his move from RB Leipzig earlier this month.

Ivan Toney faces nervy wait as Brentford drop price once again

Ivan Toney faces an anxious wait over a big-money move out of Brentford, writes Dom Smith.

The England striker has told Brentford he wants to leave but Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli are yet to reach an agreement with the Bees over a transfer.

Talks between Brentford and Al-Ahli are set to continue this week, with Saudi Pro League officials Saad Al-Lazeez and Michael Emenalo in London to try and close a deal.

Brentford had hoped to receive about £50million for Toney but, with the transfer deadline approaching, might now be willing to accept closer to £40m to offload the 28-year-old.

He had hoped to secure a transfer to a big Premier League club this summer but, having been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester United, nothing has materialised despite his impressive cameos for England at Euro 2024.

The 19-year-old has arrived for a fee in the region of £17million to become the latest addition of another busy transfer window at Stamford Bridge.
