Manor Solomon leaves Tottenham for Leeds loan deal after injury nightmare

Tottenham winger Manor Solomon has joined Championship side Leeds on loan for the rest of the season.

The Israel international is reported to have rejected a move to Spanish club Getafe and other late interest from elsewhere in favour of a temporary switch to Elland Road.

Spurs have overhauled their squad this summer, with Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert both arriving in forward positions ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s second season in charge of the club.

Midfielders Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall were also recruited, with South Korean winger Yang Min-hyuk set to join the club in January.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Emerson Royal, Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Japhet Tanganga, Bryan Gil, Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Oliver Skipp are among those who have been allowed to leave Spurs already this summer, with a number of others heading out on loan including Ashley Phillips, Alejo Veliz and Dane Scarlett.

A persistent knee injury has restricted Solomon to making only six senior appearances for Spurs to date following a free transfer from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk last summer that followed an impressive spell on loan at Fulham.

His loan is the third deal Spurs have completed with Leeds already this summer. Joe Rodon left north London for the Yorkshire giants on a permanent basis following an initial loan move, while midfield starlet Gray moved to Spurs for around £30m.

Championship title favourites Leeds are bidding to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking under Daniel Farke this season, having been edged out by Southampton in agonishing fashion in the Championship play-off final at Wembley last term.

They have lost a number of key players this summer in the likes of Gray, Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Glen Kamara, moving to bolster their squad with the signings of Rodon, Largie Ramazani, Alex Cairns, Joe Rothwell and Jayden Bogle.

Solomon - who is under contract at Spurs until the summer of 2028 - could make his Leeds debut on Saturday afternoon, when Farke’s men welcome Hull to Elland Road, looking to build on last week’s 2-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough that came after back-to-back draws with West Brom and Portsmouth and a heavy Carabao Cup first-round loss at home to Middlesbrough to kick off the new season.
