West Ham Fan View: We are reaching breaking point with Slaven Bilic

West Ham face Swansea this Saturday in what is another must win game for the Hammers. Last week’s loss in the London derby was expected but there can be no excuses this week. Here are three talking points going into this weekend’s game…

A ‘must win’ every weekend?

For the majority of last season, it was clear that Slaven Bilic’s job was in danger. We struggled to build on our good performances, only winning two games in a row in the Premier League on three separate occasions throughout the whole season. The case is the same this season and we all read the reports that the game against Huddersfield was a ‘must win’ game. But only three Premier League games later, we are back in the same position.

If we do win this weekend, how long can we maintain this form before our next ‘must win’ game? We are only six games in and should we maintain our current form, there has to be a point where there are no more ‘must win’ games and the board makes a decision on Bilic.

Will Bilic take risks with his starting XI?

Lose this game and Bilic may get the sack. So will he take risks with his starting XI? Last week showed the importance of having Michail Antonio in the team. Once he went off injured, the game changed and we lost our attacking threat. Bilic has said that he is back and ready for the game against Swansea. Will he be thrown straight into the starting XI?

Manuel Lanzini has only played 45 minutes of Premier League football this season and he is set to make his return this week against Swansea. But will he start this weekend? Given our form and the importance of this weekend’s game, it wouldn’t be a surprise.

Struggling Swansea

Swansea, like us, have struggled this season. We have both only won one game in the Premier League and this weekend’s game is huge for both sides. So which team will take advantage of the other? Let’s not forget that we did beat them twice last season.

Swansea no longer have their top goalscorer from last season with Fernando Llorente joining Tottenham though they did re-sign Wilfried Bony and Tammy Abraham’s pace and finishing ability could cause problems for our defence.
