WATCH the hilarious video depicting how Rogue One should've ended

The hype surrounding ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ may have died down since its December release, but this latest video will have you in stitches.

Reviews for the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off movie helmed by Gareth Edwards were generally rather positive. Since its pre-Christmas cinema release, the film has totalled just over $1 billion. Despite ‘The Force Awakens’ scooping over $2 billion a year earlier, the consensus was that ‘Rogue One’ would be a huge success but not to the extent of the previous JJ Abrams-directed effort.

In a new video, titled How Star Wars Rogue One Should Have Ended, the hugely talented How It Should Have Ended has released a smart and very funny animated video critiquing the movie and showing us once and for all how it should have played out.

The video addresses a number of key moments – several that, to many fans at least, seemed a bit illogical or unnecessarily convoluted for the plot’s prolonged purpose.

For example, it starts off with Ben Mendelsohn’s Orson Krennic’s decision to land a lengthy way away from where they were heading, in order to march all the way to their destination for dramatic emphasis.

One scene also sees Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) question why Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera decides to stay behind and illogically sacrifice himself rather than go with her and the rebels to safety.

The video concludes with the end of the movie where Jyn and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) prepare themselves for inevitable death, sharing a last moment together… that is until K-2SO appears in this alternate version to save them both. “Congratulations, you are being rescued.”

“I told you our chances for survival were under 30%, which is why I preemptively copied my memory banks into that other droid we hacked earlier, duh!” – Genius plan indeed, K-2!

Oh, and there’s the small matter of bringing up Peter Cushin’s Grand Moff Tarkin in CGI form, which perhaps was the single biggest criticism the film received.

While the above video is funny because, well, the points are all rather true, they’re not genuine pops at the otherwise solid film. with the first ever ‘Star Wars’ cinematic spin-off warmly welcomed by millions of fans worldwide.

Its dark, edgy, and grimy aesthetic felt much more adult to any ‘Star Wars’ instalment we’d seen before. However, the most significant element to justify ‘Rogue One’s’ existence is because it explains the glaring plot hole from the original trilogy that saw the Emperor’s Death Star built with a small yet penetrable trench that allowed Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing to fly down and bring the Empire to its knees.
