Tom Holland's Spider-Man nearly cameod in 'Into the Spider-Verse'
Tom Holland has revealed that he almost cameoed in the astonishingly brilliant Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, and we’re madder than the Green Goblin that it didn’t happen.
“At one point I was supposed to be in it. Yeah, there was going to be another Peter Parker,” Holland told Joe. “It was a scene in a train station or something. It was going to be like an Easter egg. I was going to walk through the background and say like ‘hey kid’ or something. Never happened. Heartbroken.”
Sounds like Holland’s as upset about it as we are.
Of course, Holland’s almost-involvement in the animated spin-off has been rumoured for a while, with online whispers about a scene involving the young actor, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, bringing together all of the cinematic Spider-Men for the first time.
Sadly, it doesn’t sound like that rumour was true (unless all the Spider-Dudes were hanging out together at the train station, which doesn’t seem very likely).

But don’t be too despondent, Sony have left the portal open for a future appearance in the franchise from Holland.
“Nothing is off limits,” producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller said when asked if Holland is out of bounds on the Empire podcast. “The beauty of the multiverse is that literally anything is possible, any variation you can think of. We'd like to think that all of these movies and worlds can exist in parallel, and you know, we'll see what happens.”
Hmm, sounds like to us like perhaps Holland’s cameo was removed for a reason. Why throw away an appearance from the live-action MCU Spider-Man on a one-liner in-joke easter egg, when you can centre an entire movie around him?

We suspect this isn’t the last time we’ll hear the words ‘Tom Holland’ and ‘Into The Spider-Verse’ mentioned together. We’ll be watching this (time and) space for more information.
And if we could put in a personal request to Sony? End the movie with Tom Holland pulling Miles Morales into the ‘real world’ so we can get that live-action spin-off following a character that generations of fans have already fallen in love with. Thanks very much!
