Sony confirms 'Spider-Verse' sequel, but did they forget to tell its director?
A Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse sequel has been confirmed by its producer Amy Pascal, but it seems as though she forgot to tell its director Peter Ramsey.
Pascal is currently doing the rounds promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home, during which time she was asked whether a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was planned.
“We are definitely hard at work on the sequel,” Pascal told io9. “You can can expect another movie.” But while Pascal is clearly full steam ahead on Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2, it looks as though she forgot to tell director Peter Ramsey.
That’s because Ramsey, who co-directed the hit animated superhero film with Bob Persichetti and Rodney Rothman, shared his surprise after Pascal’s comments.
Wait — IT IS?!? https://t.co/10ROVTmckG

There’s a very good chance that Ramsey was just being sarcastic, which can be tricky to pick up on Twitter.
It would be surprising if Ramsey was that much out of the loop, especially since a sequel and spin-off have been rumoured ever since Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse spun into cinemas last Christmas.
Not only did it return the very credible amount of $375.5 million from just a $90 million budget, but it wowed critics and audiences alike, scoring 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It proved to be so popular that even before it was released there were rumours of a sequel, while after its release both a Spider-Gwen spin-off and television series were confirmed, too.
We’re still waiting for dates on when they’ll be with us, but considering just how good Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is and the endless possibilities for where the franchise could go it should be worth the wait.
