The Russo brothers say a current Marvel character is secretly gay
Avengers: Endgame directors the Russo brothers have revealed that Marvel Studios will soon reveal that one of the current MCU characters is secretly gay.
Despite some sexual tension between Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner and Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff (and Steve Rogers pining over Peggy Carter) the Avengers films are largely sexless affairs.
So it's perhaps no great surprise that if one of them is gay, it's not really figured in the overall story arc.

However, that's soon to change.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly's EW Morning Live, director Joe Russo was discussing his cameo in Avengers: Endgame.
Russo appears in the scene in which Steve Rogers is – for reasons entirely unexplained – suddenly employed a group therapist to a bunch of strangers.
He's the guy who speaks about losing his partner, but has since been on a date, though it's one that involved crying in a restaurant.
That he's gay is – pleasingly – not picked up on in the slightest, and in the interview with EW, Russo explains that this guy is the first 'openly gay' character in the series (though that's pretty shabby in itself, considering the cast of thousands over 22 movies).
Nonetheless, he says: “Yes, openly gay. There’ve been insinuations about other characters’ sexuality, but this is the first openly gay character.”
Asked 'who else is gay?', Russo them stumbles, saying: “Uhhh... We’re gonna find out!

“There is a gay character coming up in one of their films, and I think Kevin [Feige, MCU boss] will make that announcement, I’m sure pretty soon.”
Indeed, Feige has said there will be openly gay characters forthcoming.
Asked bluntly by The Playlist if some LGBT characters were on the way, he said bluntly 'Yes', and then when asked if it was someone we've already seen, he added 'both'.
“Ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen,” he said.
But who it could be from the current cast is up for debate.
Tessa Thompson's Valkryie was revealed to be bisexual in a deleted scene from Thor: Ragnarok, but other than that, it could be anyone.
