The Quentin Tarantino 'R-rated Star Trek' movie is now looking doubtful
While it seemed kind of unlikely all along, it appears that maybe we won't be seeing that Quentin Tarantino Star Trek movie after all.
Instead, the Pulp Fiction director has revealed that he's now 'steering away' from the project.
Speaking to Consequence of Sound, he said: “I think I’m steering away from Star Trek, but I haven’t had an official conversation with those guys yet.

“In a strange way, it seems like this movie, Hollywood, would be my last. So, I’ve kind of taken the pressure off myself to make that last big voilà kind of statement.”
Tarantino was first linked to a possible 'R-rated' Star Trek movie in 2017, with news that he'd pitched a story to Paramount Studios.
It later emerged that the project was even moving forward with a writer, and potential for Tarantino to direct the project too.
Various speculation then surrounded the project, with Star Trek actor Simon Pegg saying that a Tarantino Star Trek wouldn't be 'Pulp Fiction in space', after which Tarantino weighed in saying that it most certainly would be along those lines.
The director has long said that he plans to make only 10 movies in all, with the most recent, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, being his ninth.

For a Star Trek movie to be his final film would be a supremely odd choice.
“I mean, I have no idea what the story of the next one’s going to be. I don’t even have a clue,” he added the CoS.
Only last week, however, Tarantino said that he's met with Uma Thurman, and a potential third Kill Bill movie was 'in the cards'.
Whether that could be his swansong remains to be seen.
But Star Trek does appear to be moving ahead, with Star Trek 4 now back on track, with Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley in final talks to write and direct.
