Kill Bill Vol. 3 is 'definitely in the cards' says Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino has said that a Kill Bill sequel is 'definitely in the cards', having recently met and discussed plans with Uma Thurman.

Tarantino followed his movie Jackie Brown with his double-bill martial arts movie, presented in two 'volumes' released in 2003 and 2004.

It found Thurman as 'the bride', a former member of an assassination squad who seeks revenge on the group’s ruthless leader, Bill, played by David Carradine.

And while there's been discussion of a sequel in the past (Tarantino has talked of it as his possible 'Dollars Trilogy', a la Western icon Sergio Leone), it sounds like it has more potential than ever.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on Sirius XM in the US, the director said that he'd had dinner with Thurman and dicussed it only the previous night.

“Well, I do have an idea of what I would do, That was the whole thing, conquering that concept...exactly what's happened to The Bride since [the last film], and what do I want to do [next],” he said.

"Because I wouldn't want to just come up with some cockamamie adventure. She doesn't deserve that! The Bride has fought long and hard. Now, I have an idea that actually could be interesting. I wouldn't do it for a little bit, though. It would be like at least three years from now, or something like that.

“But look, it is definitely in the cards.”

Previous rumours around Kill Bill sequels have centred around the daughters of those slain by The Bride taking up their own revenge missions against her.

Over the summer, the director said: “If any of my movies were going to spring from my other movies, it would be a third Kill Bill.”

The movies were a homage to the 'grindhouse' genre, as well as the martial arts and blaxploitation movies that Tarantino has long been obsessed with.

Made for around $60 million for both films, they coined in over $320 million at the box office, with Thurman starring alongside Daryl Hannah, Michael Madsen, Lucy Liu and Vivica A. Fox.
