'Inside Out' director moves from emotions to 'Soul' in new Pixar trailer
The director of Inside Out is taking on another complexity of the human experience in the first teaser trailer for his latest Pixar movie: Soul. Watch it above.
As well as the aforementioned hit, Pete Docter has helmed Monsters Inc and Up for the studio and his next film looks like another emotional ride.
The movie follows Jamie Foxx as aspiring jazz musician Joe Gardner, who has his soul separated from his body in the wake of an accident.

In the trailer, Joe can be seen falling into a manhole after narrowly avoiding being run over while crossing the street.
His soul is then transplanted into a world of blackness, where he interacts with another soul (Tina Fey).
Given the intelligence of Docter’s achievements in Inside Out, this looks set to be another intimate and witty examination of what it means to be human.
As well as Foxx and Fey, the cast for the film includes musician Questlove, Phylicia Rashad and rapper-turned-actor Daveed Diggs.

Co-director Kemp Powers told EW that the movie has gone in a “completely different direction” to Docter’s previous work for Pixar.
He said: “It’s hard to contain our enthusiasm over how much people are going to be surprised by what they see.”
Soul is one of two Pixar movies to arrive in UK cinemas next year, with Dan Scanlon’s Onward also due to hit screens.
That film is set in a world full of magical creatures, but in which magic is being stamped out by the use of technology.
