New on Prime Video UK in May 2022: New movies and TV to stream, from 'The Contractor' to 'Spider-Verse'
Last month's Prime Video UK offering was headlined by a thriller starring Chris Pine. This month, the streamer's movie slate is headlined by a thriller starring Chris Pine. The Contractor sees Pine play a special forces operative who joins a private military force after involuntary discharge from the army, only to become embroiled in a deadly conspiracy.
Elsewhere on the platform, Prime is getting into the dating game with new reality TV series Lovestruck High and the newly rebranded Freevee — formerly IMDb TV — delivers the return of Titus Welliver to the role of Harry Bosch for spin-off series Bosch: Legacy.

New movies coming to Prime Video UK in May
The Contractor (6 May)
Swedish filmmaker Tarik Saleh makes his English-language movie debut with this action thriller starring Chris Pine as former special forces operative James Harper. In the wake of an involuntary discharge from service, he joins a private military force only to end up as a fugitive fleeing for his life when everything goes wrong. The cast also includes Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan and Kiefer Sutherland.
Kick Like Tayla (27 May)
Tayla Harris has had an impressive career in two separate sports, succeeding as an undefeated professional boxer as well as an Australian rules footballer. She has also fought online harassment, most notably when a photograph of her in action on the football pitch sparked offensive and sexually explicit comments. This documentary explores her career in sport and her actions off the pitch to improve the lives of female athletes.
New TV coming to Prime Video UK in May
Bosch: Legacy S1 (weekly from 6 May via Freevee)
Less than a year after police procedural series Bosch came to an end with its seventh season on Prime Video, a spin-off has arrived over at Freevee. The series features Titus Welliver's title character as a private eye, having left the police department. Meanwhile, Madison Lintz plays Bosch's daughter Maddie, and she's pursuing a career as a cop.
LOL: Last One Laughing Mexico S4 (6 May)
With variations in multiple countries, this show features comedians battling it out to make each other laugh without corpsing themselves. In this new twist on the format, the comics will participate in pairs in order to win one million pesos (£39,000) for charity. Host Eugenio Derbez will also be joined by his son José Eduardo to inject new twists into proceedings throughout.
Soho Theatre Live S3 (6 May)
Some of Britain's best comedians take part in this series of 10 specials, recorded at the titular London venue. Stand-ups featured this time around include Suzi Ruffell, Mark Watson, Michael Odewale and Felicity Ward.
The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith (6 May)
Beverly Lynn Smith was murdered in her own kitchen in Canada back in 1974. This docuseries explores the journey to try to find her murderer and the involvement in the case of Alan Smith, who is unrelated to Beverly but became a key person of interest and the subject of a controversial investigation.
The Wilds S2 (6 May)
The first season of The Wilds saw the group of stranded teenage girls at its centre realise that their confinement on the island was due to some sort of social experiment. This second season sees a selection of new, male test subjects added to the island in order to fight for their survival.
The Kids in the Hall S1 (13 May)
More than 30 years after they first graced screens in the late 1980s, the Canadian comedy troupe made up of Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson returns with another incarnation of their sketch series. Guests stars include Mark Hamill, Eddie Izzard and Pete Davidson.
Lovestruck High (weekly from 18 May)
Everything about Lovestruck High is bizarre. It's a fresh spin on the dating show concept, transporting 15 single Brits to an immersive American high school setting complete with all of the usual cliques and archetypes. Their goal is to secure a date to the prom, find love and win some money in the process. On top of all of that, it's narrated by Lindsay Lohan.
Night Sky S1 (20 May)
This mysterious sci-fi series stars Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons as a couple who have been harbouring a secret for many years. There's a chamber built in their backyard which can transport people to a strange, deserted planet. Chai Hansen plays a young man who enters their lives and makes them question everything they thought they knew about the chamber and what it contains.
Iain Stirling: Failing Upwards (27 May)
Iain Stirling has endeared himself to TV audiences over the years as the snarky voiceover guy for ITV2 dating behemoth Love Island and a contestant on one of the recent series of Taskmaster. He has spent the last year touring his stand-up show Failing Upwards, which is now heading to Prime Video with a performance filmed in his home city of Edinburgh.
