Oscars 2020: Laura Dern wins Best Supporting Actress for 'Marriage Story'
Laura Dern has been named Best Supporting Actress at the 92nd Academy Awards for her role in Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story.
Dern, who turned 53 on Sunday, described her first Oscar as “the best birthday present ever” as she spoke from the stage of the Dolby Theatre.
The win came from Dern’s third nomination after she previously lost out on Best Actress for Rambling Rose and Best Supporting Actress for Wild.

Her performance as divorce lawyer Nora Fanshaw won over Kathy Bates (Richard Jewell), Scarlett Johansson (Jojo Rabbit), Florence Pugh (Little Women) and Margot Robbie (Bombshell).
The Jurassic Park star used her acceptance speech to praise her parents — actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd.
She said: “Some say never meet your heroes but I say, if you're really blessed, you get them as your parents.
"I share this with my acting legends, Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern. You got game, I love you."
Both of Dern’s parents have been nominated for Oscars during the course of their careers.

Dern previously won a BAFTA, Golden Globe and SAG Award for her Marriage Story performance, completing a sweep of awards season.
Marriage Story was nominated for six awards at the Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.
Dern’s co-stars — Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson — were also nominated, for Best Actor and Best Actress respectively.

She is set to reprise her role as Dr. Ellie Sattler in the Jurassic Park franchise in the upcoming Jurassic World 3, which will film this year.
The 92nd Academy Awards took place overnight at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
