Netflix users have watched two billion hours of Adam Sandler movies
Adam Sandler is one of Netflix’s most popular stars, and fans have clocked up an eye-watering two billion hours sat in front of his movies on the streaming service.
The 54-year-old comic has been closely associated with the streamer since he signed a big money deal in 2014, yielding films including The Ridiculous 6 and The Do-Over.
That initial four-movie commitment was extended this year, which will keep Sandler and Netflix bonded for many years to come.

New figures revealed by Variety shed a lot of light on why Netflix is so willing to part with its cash, as Sandler’s movies have been watched for two billion hours in total. That’s the equivalent of 228,310 years watching solely Sandler movies.
Even the most ardent Happy Gilmore fan would have to question whether the movie is worth watching 1.3 billion times.

Sandler’s relationship with Netflix predominantly focuses on his new work, but some of his other movies including Click, 50 First Dates and Big Daddy are also currently available as part of its catalogue.
As well as some of his most critically reviled comedies, the Sandler-Netflix partnership has helped bring some of his more interesting dramatic work to audiences.

Noah Baumbach drama The Meyerowitz Stories debuted on the streaming service to strong reviews, while Uncut Gems arrived on Netflix outside of the USA.
The latter project secured the strongest notices of Sandler’s career, as well as numerous awards and nominations.
Sandler has frequently joked about his difficult relationship with film critics, performing a comedy special called 100% Fresh in reference to his frequent low ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
He also quipped that he’d deliberately make a terrible film if he didn’t get an Oscar nomination for Uncut Gems — for which he was duly snubbed.

Hubie Halloween didn’t quite live up to that promise of awfulness, though it did only manage a 51% approval score on Sandler’s favourite review aggregator.
The prolific star has a handful of other Netflix projects in the pipeline, including basketball tale Hustle and an adaptation of sci-fi novel Spaceman of Bohemia.
