Adam Sandler says he'll make an awful movie 'on purpose' if he doesn't win an Oscar this year
Adam Sandler is being talked up for a possible Oscar nomination for his role as a gambling addict in the movie Uncut Gems.
But if he doesn't, he's going to release a movie that's powerfully bad in protest.
Speaking to Howard Stern, he joked: “If I don’t get it, I’m going to f***ing come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay.
“That’s how I get them.”

Seems like a fair system.
He adds that it would be 'a big funny thing' if the role were to earn him his first ever nomination for an Oscar (though he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his stunning performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's Punch Drunk Love).
Sandler has, of course, done his fair share of stinkers in recent years, notably the comedies Sandy Wexler, The Do-Over, The Week Of, and Murder Mystery, all part of his multi-picture deal with Netflix, and all panned by critics.
But he's also turned in some highly acclaimed performances too, in 2017's The Meyerowitz Stories, directed by Noah Baumbach, and now Uncut Gems.

The movie has been directed by the Safdie Brothers, who made Good Time in 2017, with Robert Pattinson, which garnered rave reviews.
This week Sandler's performance as jewellery store owner and gambler Howard Ratner won him the Best Actor award at the 91st National Board of Review awards, where the movie was also listed in the top 10 for the year.
Also starring Kevin Garnett, Idina Menzel, Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, and Eric Bogosian, the movie lands in UK cinemas – and then on Netflix – in January.
