Marvel fans will need to watch Disney+ to understand MCU, insists Kevin Feige

Audiences entranced by the Marvel Cinematic Universe are going to have to watch every new series that debuts on Disney+ in order to fully understand its future films.

That’s according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige who made the revelation during a recent interview with Bloomberg.

“If you want to understand everything in future Marvel movies,” Feige says, “you’ll probably need a Disney+ subscription, because events from the new shows will factor into forthcoming films such as Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.”

“The Scarlet Witch will be a key character in that movie, and Feige points out that the Loki series will tie in, too. ‘I’m not sure we’ve actually acknowledged that before,’ he says. ‘But it does’.”

Disney have already confirmed that its upcoming streaming service, which debuts on 12 November in the US and will launch in the UK on 31 March, 2020, has eight new Marvel series in the pipeline.

These include The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, which will arrive first in late 2020, while WandaVision, Loki, What If …?, and Hawkeye will air in 2021, and we’re still waiting for release dates for Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.

During that same period Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, Spider-Man 3, Thor: Love And Thunder, Black Panther 2, and Ant-Man 3 are all going to be released as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, too.

That means that Marvel fans are going to have an awful lot of content to devour over the next few years, while if these shows and films are as popular as their predecessors then we can only assume that their output will increase even more.
