Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirms another LGBT character for the Marvel Cinematic Universe

A second gay character has been confirmed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, by studio boss Kevin Feige.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Feige made good on promises that the future of Marvel at the multiplex would be more inclusive.

He confirmed that one of the key male characters in the forthcoming The Eternals will be gay.

“He’s married, he’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is,” he said, though he didn't reveal which character it would be.

Feige had previously confirmed that LGBT characters would begin to feature in the next phase of Marvel movies, but did not give too much detail away.

Then it was confirmed that Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie will be the first out LGBT character in the MCU, in the forthcoming Thor: Love and Thunder in 2021.

“As new king, she needs to find her queen,” Thompson said last month. “She has some ideas. I'll keep you posted.”

Meanwhile, the cast for The Eternals is shaping up to be an all-star affair.

At the Disney D23 Expo event over the weekend, it was confirmed that Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has come on board to play Dane Whitman, along with Captain Marvel star Gemma Chan as Sersi.

They'll join Harington's GoT co-star Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani and Brian Tyree Henry on the bill, though we'll have to wait until November 2020 to see it.

To be directed by Chloé Zhao, it will find the Eternals, an immortal race created at the beginning of the universe, sent to Earth to protect the human race from advanced humanoids, The Deviants.

The movie will also feature Walking Dead star Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, the first deaf superhero in the MCU.
