Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn movie finds screenwriter

Watch out, puddin’ – it looks like Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn movie has found its writer.

The Wrap reports that as-yet unproduced scribe Christina Hodson will pen the DC Extended Universe movie featuring the anti-heroine who well and truly stole the show in 2016’s ‘Suicide Squad.’

On top of which, the report would appear to confirm that the as-yet untitled film will not be a Harley Quinn solo movie as such, but will also feature other female DC characters – including, this report says, the Birds of Prey.

As previously reported, Robbie will produce as well as star in the film, although there remains no official confirmation of which other characters will appear in the film, nor any hint of casting news.

The line-up of Gotham City superheroine team the Birds of Prey has varied over the years, but generally features Oracle (AKA Barbara Gordon, originally Batgirl), Black Canary and Huntress.

It seems feasible the film could also feature Catwoman (though it’s unlikely ‘the Dark Knight Rises’ star Anne Hathaway would be back), plus Harley’s comic book BFF Poison Ivy – and at this point, surely any female-centric DC movie would have to include Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in some capacity.

While screenwriter Christina Hodson has no official credits to her name at present, she has a number of highly regarded unproduced scripts under her belt, and will soon reach a wide audience as writer of ‘Transformers’ spin-off movie ‘Bumblebee.’

The Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey film has no confirmed release date or director at present, but the DC Extended Universe will continue in a female-fronted fashion with next year’s ‘Wonder Woman,’ opening in UK cinemas 2 June 2017.
