Lando Calrissian won’t be in Star Wars 8
It’s official – Lando won’t be in ‘Star Wars 8’.
It’s been rumoured for the best part of a year, but it looks as though Billy Dee Williams, aka Lando Calrissian, doesn’t have a role in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
Appearing at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, the 80-year-old ‘Star Wars’ star confirmed the rather sad news – he won’t be appearing in ‘Star Wars 8’.

Of course, the fans are suitably disappointed.
Lando Calrissian first appeared in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ as the administrator of Bespin – the cloud city where Han and the gang hole up while on the run from the Empire.
But while he double crossed his old pal, Lando soon made up for it – becoming a hero of the Rebel Alliance in ‘Return of the Jedi’ when he led the assault on the second Death Star.
And he wears a damn cool cape, too.
Unfortunately, it looks as though he won’t be back in ‘Star Wars 8’… but the character is set to return for the upcoming Han Solo spin-off, which will star Donald Glover as young Lando.
“He’s a very delightful young man, I must say,” said Williams in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “We had a very nice lunch and we talked for a very long time and it was very easy. He had questions about [Lando]. I guess he was doing what normal actors do, they just want to find out what direction they want to take so they gather their information.”
“So, we just sat and talked, and I didn’t want to impose on anything he wanted to do – he’s got his own ideas, I would imagine. I know he has his own ideas. He’s a very talented young man. In fact, I was listening to some of his music and it’s pretty good stuff.”
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.
Rian Johnson both wrote and directed the movie.
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ heads to cinemas on 15 December 2017.
