Dick Van Dyke Really Isn't Sold On Mary Poppins 2
There aren’t many more qualified to offer their two cents on the forthcoming sequel to ‘Mary Poppins’ than Burt himself.
It appears that Dick Van Dyke is very much undecided on whether it will be a good idea to follow up the 1964 family classic, calling the project potentially ‘difficult’.

‘Mary Poppins Returns’ is slated for a Christmas 2018 release, and will see the magical nanny played by Emily Blunt.
“I’d have to see the script,” he told the Daily Mirror when asked whether he’d be up for appearing in the new movie.
“Without Walt Disney, and the Sherman brothers to write the score, and Julie, it will be difficult, I think.
“Every day we came to work and we knew there was something magical going on. There was such a spirit.
“Walt was always there as a morale builder. We both said we were children looking for our inner

The 90-year-old screen legend also broached the subject of his infamous ‘cockney’ accent, which has been affectionately mocked ever since.
“They only sent a coach to me once for that accent,” he said. “And he was an Irishman – his cockney accent was not much better than mine.”
it was recently announced that Ben Whishaw is up for the role of the grown-up Michael Banks in the sequel.
Meryl Streep is also said to be in talks to play Mary Poppins’ cousin Topsy in the Rob Marshall-helmed project, with ‘Hamilton’ star Lin-Manuel Miranda set to play Jack, a streetlamp lighter.
