Jurassic World 2 will begin filming early next year
After the enormous success of Colin Trevorrow’s ‘Jurassic World’ in 2015, its inevitable sequel is about to begin filming.
Last year, the Christ Pratt-fronted action movie stunned everyone by reaching $1 billion in record-breaking time - until it was beaten by ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, that is.
By the end of its run, the fourth ‘Jurassic’ film had taken a staggering $1.6 billion, placing it as the third (later moving down a spot) biggest movie of all time.
According to ComingSoon.net, the anticipated sequel will begin its shoot. in March of 2017. The news comes after speaking to its director J.A. Bayona who’s currently promoting his latest movie ‘A Monster Calls’ which stars ‘Rogue One’ protagonist Felicity Jones.
“We’re working it already,” Bayona confirmed, “and shooting starts in March.” So with a shooting schedule in place the film’s casting and script will likely be finalised, even if it’s not all publicly known.
“Every story is different and you need to find the depth of every story and try to express it on the screen,” Bayona shared.
The filmmaker admits that other big guns will shape the dino follow-up but he’ll also stamp his authority on the project too:
“The ‘Jurassic World’ sequel is a more collaborative filmmaker experience, not only with Colin Trevorrow, but also with Steven [Spielberg] and with Frank Marshall. It’s their baby as much as it is mine. It’s about sharing views and working together to bring the story to life. But, at the same time, the way I face telling a story is to find something very personal. I think there will be plenty of myself also in the film.”
The movie’s plot is still under wraps, even though Trevorrow was quoted as using an Alan Grant quote from Spielberg’s 1993 film as a basis for a plot:
“Dinosaurs and man, two species separated by 65 million years of evolution have just been suddenly thrown back into the mix together. How can we possibly have the slightest idea what to expect?”
‘Jurassic World’ really resonated with fans of the series, even if the latter film, ‘Jurassic Park III’ didn’t live up to the original or its even its sequel. And after the huge success of the long-awaited fourth movie, Universal will be hoping its sequel will generate a similar amount of hype and ticket sales.
‘Jurassic World 2′ is in UK cinemas on 8 June, 2018.
