Han Solo's 'Star Wars' jacket set to make £1 million at auction

The iconic Han Solo jacket worn by Harrison Ford in The Empire Strikes Back is expected to make £1 million at auction.

It’s among a high-profile collection of movie memorabilia going under the hammer next month.

A Stormtrooper helmet from the first Star Wars movie is likely to fetch upwards of £60,000, along with a First Order helmet from The Last Jedi, which is expected to make £50,000.

The proceeds of the latter item will be donated to the NSPCC.

Movie memorabilia dealer Prop Store is behind the auction, with a wealth of other iconic items set to go on sale.

There’s also the farewell note that Kate Winslet’s Rose wrote to her fiancé Cal, played by Billy Zane, in James Cameron’s Titanic, and Marty McFly’s hoverboard from Back To The Future II.

Meanwhile, for Indiana Jones fans, a bullwhip from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is expected to make between £50,000 and £70,000, with an iconic fedora from Raiders of the Lost Ark set to sell for between £200,000 and £300,000.

For those with a little less to splash out, there will be a robe worn by Brad Pitt in Fight Club for an expected £15,000 and a genuine Bubba Gump Shrimp hat worn by Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump at an estimated £7000.

Many of the items will be on public view at the BFI Imax in London, where the auction will take place, between September 6 and September 20.

Prop Store’s chief executive Stephen Lane said: “Our auction on September 20 2018 will once again raise the bar, presenting some of the most iconic cinematic artefacts of our time.

“We look forward to bringing together a global audience of film fans and collectors to London’s Odeon BFI Imax for the two-week preview exhibition.”
