George R.R. Martin suggests 'Game Of Thrones' book will have a different ending to TV show
George R.R. Martin has given his biggest indication yet that the upcoming Game Of Thrones book, which he is still writing, will have a different ending to the TV show.
The much loved and respected author made this declaration to the German publication Welt, via Esquire. After being quizzed about the novels, Martin briefly remarked, "People know an ending—but not the ending. The makers of the TV show had overtaken me, which I didn't expect."

This isn’t the first time that Martin has alluded to his two remaining books heading in a different direction to David Benioff and Dan Weiss’ heavily maligned conclusion to the show, which was deemed so inadequate and rushed that some fans even started a petition for HBO to remake its final episodes.
Back in May, 2019, Martin wrote on his blog, “How will it all end? I hear people asking. The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes.”
“I am working in a very different medium than David and Dan, never forget. They had six hours for this final season. I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3,000 manuscript pages between them before I’m done…and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I’ll add them.”

Unfortunately, we’re still not actually sure when either The Winds Of Winter or A Dream Of Spring will be released to the public, as he refuses to give specific dates, especially since it was originally expected to hit shelves in 2015, but has since been pushed back again and again and again.
