Fantastic Beasts plot hole will apparently ‘become clear’
Don’t panic – JK Rowling has a plan for ‘Fantastic Beasts’.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ hasn’t been without criticism. It may be a rather charming romp through the wider ‘Harry Potter’ world, but there’s a lot to pick holes in – not least of which is a rather gaping plot hole which has puzzled the fans.

Throughout the Harry Potter books, it’s explained that wizards and witches who are expelled have their wands broken so they cannot perform magic, essentially rendering them powerless. But while Newt Scamander was expelled from Hogwarts, he’s obviously kept his wand.
So what gives?
One valiant Twitter user confronted JK Rowling to find out.
“Why was Newt allowed to keep his wand and do magic, and work for the ministry?” asked ‘Fantastic Beasts’ fan, Clara Simmons. “Hagrid had a different experience after expulsion.”
But while Rowling wouldn’t give any details (or an explanation for this plot hole) she did assure the fans that it will be covered later in the series… and it sounds as though it could all be part of her plan for the film franchise.
“All will become clear,” she explained. “Trust me.”
So why is Newt the exception to the rule? We’ve already seen what happens when a wizard is expelled, after its revealed that Hagrid faced this punishment after he was falsely accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets.
Well, it’s already hinted that Newt Scamander was a ‘favourite’ of Albus Dumbledore… and while he was only a teacher at Hogwarts during this time, it’s likely that he used his influence to help the young wizard.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ debuted on 18 November 2016.
