Daniel Craig wanted to play Superman, not James Bond
After his performances in Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spectre, and even Quantum Of Solace, Daniel Craig’s place as one of the greatest James Bonds of all time is well and truly secured.
But it turns out that it was never the 52-year-old actors dream to star as 007. Craig admitted as much during a recent interview with Saga magazine, via Metro, when he was asked whether he’d always envisioned playing James Bond during his youth.

Craig responded, “People are always saying to me, ‘You must have dreamed of playing James Bond when you were a kid.’ The answer is no. I never did.”
Instead, Craig fantasised about one day playing a variety of different characters. “I dreamed of being all sorts of other things – Superman, Spider-Man, the Invisible Man, even a good old-fashioned cowboy. But Bond so much, which seems ironic now.”
Obviously Craig is rather happy that he was given the chance to play James Bond, though, as he added, “I’ve been lucky enough to land one of the best roles in movies. There’s been no downside to playing Bond.”
Of course, Craig is about to bid farewell to the James Bond franchise, as the upcoming No Time To Die will mark his last outing as the legendary spy. Craig is already looking to the future, and he clearly doesn’t have any specific plans about any new characters or films he would like to portray.

“I’m pretty sure I can play just about anything,” enthused Craig. “Yeah. I’m pretty sure I can, or at least I can make a f**ing good fist of it.”
Unfortunately we won’t get to see Craig’s final work as Bond until the end of the year, as No Time To Die won’t be released until November 12.
