Chris Evans slates 'Straight Pride' organisers saying their own 'gay thoughts' make them homophobic

It looks like Captain America won't be endorsing the planned 'Straight Pride' march happening in his hometown of Boston.

In fact, Marvel star Chris Evans reckons that its organisers must be struggling with their own sexuality if they're so offended by Gay Pride Month, celebrations for which are happening all this month.

'Straight Pride' organiser Mark Sahady hit headlines after he filed a discrimination complaint with the City of Boston, and is now 'working with officials' to plan a parade in August.

But the plans have been widely mocked online, with Evans, whose brother is gay and who happens to be an avid Twitter user with over 12 million followers, now weighing in too.

“Wow! Cool initiative, fellas!!” he wrote.

“Just a thought, instead of ‘Straight Pride’ parade, how about this: The ‘desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children’ parade? Whatta ya think? Too on the nose??”

He went on: “Wow, the number gay/straight pride parade false equivalencies are disappointing. For those who don’t understand the difference, see below. Instead of going immediately to anger (which is actually just fear of what you don’t understand) take a moment to search for empathy and growth.”

Evans' remark have been met with significant approval.
