Chloë Grace Moretz says she relished the chance to embrace her goofy side in Tom & Jerry The Movie, after a run of more serious films like Suspiria and The Miseducation of Cameron Post.
Moretz stars as hotel employee Kayla in the film, serving as the human foil to the slapstick chaos caused by the warring cartoon duo.
Kayla hires Tom in order to chase Jerry out of the hotel, prior to the arrival of a wealthy celebrity couple who are getting married at the venue.

"It's right up my alley," Moretz yells Yahoo Entertainment UK. "At home, I'm this much of a goof and a ham so for me it was pretty indicative of my home life."
She adds: "I had a good time. It definitely is as much energy, if not more energy, as action movies and drama pieces.
"It was awesome and I'm happy that people can see that side of me."

Moretz says she was apprehensive when she was first handed the script for the movie, worrying that a more modern take on the characters wouldn't do justice to her memories of watching the cartoons.
"For me, it was sacred to my childhood," she says. "It was probably one of the first shows that enlivened my imagination at the earliest stages."
The 24-year-old adds: "When I read [the script], I was really blown away with how much fine-tuned work had gone in to it to really harken back to the original show while also making it a very fun, progressive, modern piece while also not slapping you over the head with the modern details."
Moretz says she is proud of the film, particularly given the significance of these characters in popular culture all over the world.
She adds: "I think what's so wonderful about Tom & Jerry is that if you pluck anyone out of any generation, then they'll have a personal story to tell you about what Tom & Jerry means to them.
"That goes for every country and every culture, quite frankly."
