Chloë Grace Moretz won't be doing Kick-Ass 3 after how Kick-Ass 2 'was handled'
Chloë Grace Moretz has said that she’s no intention of returning for a third Kick-Ass movie, after how the second film ‘was handled’.
Moretz reprised her role as Hit-Girl for Kick-Ass 2 in 2013, following the success of the first movie in 2010, which was adapted from Scottish writer Mark Millar’s series of comic books.
But the second took a hefty panning by the critics, and also ended with an awkward kiss between Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl, despite the two characters having been in a distinctly sibling type relationship through the first movie, and much of the second.
“I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special,” Moretz said at the Provincetown Film Festival (via Indiewire).
“I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all.
“As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I kind of want to keep her there.
“I kinda wanna keep everyone’s mind in Kick-Ass. So I don’t think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at least I don’t think with Hit-Girl in it.”
Director Matthew Vaughn reckons otherwise, however.
He recently told Empire of plans to reboot the series, with a third movie and possibly a solo Hit-Girl spin-off.
“We’re going to reboot Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl,” he said. “Look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues.”
Moretz is next up in Luca Guadagnino’s remake of Suspiria.
