One month has passed since Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was fully cleared to participate in basketball activities, and he's already providing a glimpse of what that might look like this season.

In a recent video shared by MBNO training, Morant looked healthy and dynamic in a string of highlights from five-on-five basketball sessions. As expected, the two-time All-Star was quick and agile. In one clip, he split a double team with a behind-the-back dribble and spun around another defender to finish a layup at the rim.

The clips also showcased Morant knocking down several jumpers. His ability to consistently knock down jump shots feels like the area of his game that could elevate him to the next tier of stars.

Memphis drafted 7-foot-4 center Zach Edey in the first round of the 2024 draft, and one of his notable skills is setting screens, which bodes well for Morant. In the highlights, Morant attacked the basket several times before stopping and shooting midrange jumpers or floaters.

Unlike scoring in the paint and on 3-pointers, the midrange shot has been a rarity for Morant. He appears to be working on that part of his game.

Morant played only nine games last season before he was shut down after suffering a labral tear in his right shoulder in January, and he wasn't cleared to participate in all basketball activities until July.

It's a positive sign for Memphis that he is already ramping up for the 2024-25 season. His agent and former Grizzlies wing, Mike Miller, recently said the point guard is "coming for all the work this year."

Morant currently has the 10th-best odds to win the 2025 MVP award, according to FanDuel. His career-best finish was seventh in 2022.

The Grizzlies are still more than a month away from preseason camp, but Morant may be playing more runs with his NBA teammates before that comes. Guard Desmond Bane recently said that Grizzlies players are hoping to get together for some basketball runs closer to the end of August.
