Why Kevin Durant tweeted a photo of Ja Morant after winning Olympic gold with Team USA

Kevin Durant kept the receipts.

Just hours after Team USA defeated France 98-87 in the gold-medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Durant logged on to X, formerly known as Twitter, to celebrate and engage with fans. His series of posts included a dig at Germany's Dennis Schröder, plus a photo of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.

The photo was Durant's second response to a post from user @SwipaCam, whose tweet after the United States narrowly beat Serbia in the semifinals credited the Serbian team for its effort in the game. To that, the Phoenix Suns forward tweeted, "Where u from??"

After winning the gold medal — his fourth — and in the middle of the night in Paris, Durant tweeted out the photo of Morant from an oft-posted video of the guard telling people to "stay on that side" after a Grizzlies game.

And Morant noticed, quote-tweeting Durant's post with "talk to em !!"

Durant had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists Saturday in the win, Team USA's fifth straight Olympic gold medal in men's basketball. The game was close until the final minutes, when Steph Curry hit four 3-pointers to silence the home crowd and win his first Olympic medal.

Though he was injured heading into the Olympics and came off the bench most of the time, Durant was a dominant force. He became the all-time leading scorer for the United States in Olympic competition.
