CLEMSON — Clemson football rose from No. 11 to No. 9 in the US LBM Coaches Poll released Sunday.

The Tigers (5-1, 4-0 ACC) received 904 points and did not receive any first-place votes. They are the second-ranked ACC team, finishing behind Miami, which is No. 6 with 1,105 points and was on an open week.

Clemson remains No. 10 in The Associated Press media poll with 980 points and no first-place votes. Miami is No. 6 with 1,232 points.

Clemson moved up the rankings after defeating Wake Forest 49-14 on the road Saturday at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It returns to action Saturday (noon ET, ACCN) against Virginia (4-2, 2-1) at Memorial Stadium.

Two other ACC schools made the coaches' top 25: Pittsburgh (340 points) at No. 20 and SMU (183) at No. 23. Pitt is also No. 20 in the AP poll with 397 points, and SMU (260) is No. 21.

ACC teams that did not make the coaches top 25 poll but received votes were Syracuse (13 points) and Louisville (4). Syracuse (13) and Louisville (7) also received votes in the AP pool.

The US LBM weekly poll is voted on by a panel of coaches chosen by random draw. Voters submit a top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place worth 24, and so on down to one point for 25th, according to USA TODAY Sports.
