Undrafted rookie makes starting lineup in Steelers 1st depth chart
On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers put out their first official depth chart of the season. There weren't a ton of big surprises but we did get one rookie in the starting lineup.
But not the rookie you think.
Offensive tackle Troy Fautanu is listed as the backup to Dan Moore Jr. at left tackle, center Zach Frazier is second string to Nate Herbig and wide receiver Roman Wilson is behind Calvin Austin as the slot receiver.
The only rookie listed as first string just days before the team takes on the Houston Texans in the team's first preseason game is undrafted free-agent cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. The former West Virginia star made a huge splash from the moment he joined the Steelers and passed Grayland Arnold as the team's starting nickel cornerback.
Bishop's arrival couldn't have come at a better time. Pittsburgh signed veteran Cameron Sutton to take over that nickel corner spot but has been suspended by the NFL without pay for the first eight games of the season. Bishop is physical and fearless and reminds us quite a bit of former Steelers slot cornerback Mike Hilton.
