No. 7 Alexandria (3-0) at No. 25 Opelousas (1-1) , 7 p.m.

The Tigers are looking to be the first team to catch Alexandria slipping this season. With senior running back D'shaun Ford leading their offense, they are looking to pull off an upset and build off the momteumn they built after beating Lake Charles College Prep 27-12. It’ll be a tall task against the Trojans, who are averaging around 43.3 points per game so far.

Score prediction: Alexandria 30-27

Lafayette (3-0) at Southside (1-1), 7 p.m.

Lafayette has already matched the number of wins it had last season and the Mighty Lions are looking for more. The Sharks are hungry, as well, winning their first game of the season last week under new head coach Jess Curtis. The matchup will be a dogfight as wins in class 5A District 3 are hard to come by.

Score prediction: Lafayette 35-34

The Cougars have one final tune-up before they face a loaded Class 4A District schedule. They are coming off a 20-7 loss against No. 2 Acadiana, a game in which their offense struggled. St. Thomas More will look to hand Neville its first loss of the season and it’s gonna take more scoring. The Tigers are averaging nearly 40 points per game.

Score prediction: St. Thomas More 21-20

No. 6 Teurlings Catholic (3-0) at No. 16 Westgate (2-0), 7 p.m.

Somebody’s got to lose in this class 4A District 4 opener that is likely to be a thriller. Both teams have picked up notable wins so far this season with an explosive offense. The Tigers may have more offensive weapons, but the Rebels won’t go down without a fight.

Score prediction: Westgate 35-30

Vermilion Catholic (3-0) at Erath (3-0), 7 p.m.

This is another battle of undefeated teams but this one is a non-district matchup between the Screaming Eagles and the Bobcats. Both teams have wins over a similar opponent in Loreauville and should be a close game. The Eagles have a more productive offense and will look to run up the score while Erath will look to slow them down.

Score prediction: Vermilion Catholic 42-35
