Texas Tech football produces historic first half against North Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Tech football team put up historic numbers in the first half of Saturday's game against North Texas in Jones AT&T Stadium.

The Red Raiders produced 35 points in the second quarter alone, which tied the program record for most points in a single quarter in the modern era (since 1950). The mark of 35 was last achieved in the second quarter of the Sept. 24, 2005 victory over Indiana State. Before that, the Red Raiders had 35 points, also in the second quarter, against SMU in 1990.

Tech's 52-point effort was tied the team record for most points in a half, which came in the same 2005 contest against Indiana State.
