Stefon Diggs trade: He's not the Dolphins or Bills problem any more

Stefon's gone.

Stefon Diggs, the talented but mercurial Bills wide receiver, has been shipped to the Texans for what seems like an underwhelming return.

Buffalo gets a second-rounder while sending the talented Diggs and fifth- and sixth-round picks away from western New York and quarterback Josh Allen.

The Bills don't have to deal with Diggs anymore.

And neither do the Dolphins.

Like many star receivers, Diggs often seemed unhappy.

Mercurial Stefon Diggs traded from Bills to Texans

Was he unhappy with his quarterback?

Was he unhappy with the play-calling?

Was he unhappy with all that snow?

It won't be easy for Allen and the Bills to replace Diggs' targets.

It is true Diggs, 31, has nine NFL seasons and 136 games of tread on his wheels.

How did Stefon Diggs do against the Dolphins?

Well, Diggs faced the Dolphins nine times and was 8-1.

Diggs averaged 79.9 yards per game and had seven touchdowns.

Diggs particularly burned the Dolphins and former Miami cornerback Xavien Howard on crossing patterns.

In two Bills defeats of Miami last season, Diggs had 207 yards and three touchdowns.

At times, Jalen Ramsey shadowed Diggs.

But some observers felt Ramsey should have been asked to shadow Diggs more.

Is this a turning point in Bills' AFC East dominance?

Are the Bills headed into rebuild mode or relaunch mode or what?

This offseason, they've already lost Diggs, Jordan Poyer (to Miami), Tre'Davious White, Mitch Morse, Gabriel Davis, Tyrel Dodson, Leonard Floyd and Siran Neal (to Miami).

When the Vikings traded Diggs to the Bills in 2022, they used the first-round pick obtained to select star receiver Justin Jefferson.

But Buffalo didn't get a first-round pick back in this deal.

Allen and Bills fans surely will be anxious to see how they replace Diggs.

For the Dolphins, who have already seen Bill Belichick depart from the AFC East this offseason, Diggs' departure is yet another reason to quietly celebrate in Miami Gardens.
