Steelers preparing for Justin Fields to start versus the Broncos
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met with the media on Tuesday and of course everyone wanted to know about the status of quarterback Russell Wilson. The Steelers take on the Denver Broncos this weekend and according to Tomlin, the team is preparing as if Justin Fields will get his second start of the season.
Tomlin didn't sugar coat the situation and certainly didn't offer up any special treatment for Wilson and stayed pure Tomlin. He noted that Wilson will meet with the doctors after practice on Wednesday for further evaluation but there is no rush to put one player into a spot on the depth chart over the other.
The #Steelers are planning to start QB Justin Fields on Sunday once again, coach Mike Tomlin just told reporters.

We got an approach to business. I always stand in front of you guys when people are somewhat limited and I say we will push through our work week and let their participation be our guide in terms of whether we include him and the quality of that participation. This scenario is no different for me, respectfully. I understand that you have to ask that question but that doesn’t mean we need to change our position or do things that are abnormal in an effort to answer it.
Fields played a very safe game versus the Atlanta Falcons last week in their 18-10 win. To beat the Denver Broncos this week, Tomlin might have to open things up for Fields a bit more and do more to stretch the field and get into the end zone.
