Steelers HC has strange approach to winning football games
This morning, the Pittsburgh Steelers woke up celebrating a huge division win over the Baltimore Ravens. But don't tell head coach Mike Tomlin. He seems to be allergic to enjoying the success of his team and frankly, it strikes us as unusual.
"By the time that car leaves the parking lot, I am on the move. I have been in this too long to bask in it," Tomlin said at his weekly press conference.
We get the idea of staying focused and on task but this schtick might be a little over the top. Do we think Detroit Lions quarterback Dan Campbell isn't pretty excited about their win on Sunday?
It's absolutely OK to just enjoy the fruits of your success on a weekly basis and I hope the players don't share his approach. This team hasn't won a playoff game since 2016 so it's hard to think about going all season without taking some time to savor those regular-season wins, only to get bounced in the playoffs year after year. Maybe if Tomlin took in a little more of just how big games like Sundays are, it would help them understand the importance and potential excitement of winning in the playoffs.
