Pittsburgh Steelers fans are growing weary of the cat-and-mouse game in pursuit of San Fransisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco stated Monday night that the Steelers were no longer "an option" after failing to meet San Fransisco's trade demands.

No one of repute has reported exactly what General Manager Omar Khan offered the 49ers in return for Aiyuk, only that it wasn't enough.

The Steelers need to bite the bullet and stop low-balling the Niners. That they continue to do so (Mark Kaboly reported the same earlier this year) makes you wonder just how serious they are about acquiring the two-time 1,000-yard receiver.

If the Steelers were serious, they stop fooling around and offer up their first-round 2025 pick (something no other team has done) at the very minimum. Talented young receivers are selected in round one every year, and Aiyuk actually has the experience (and numbers) to make such a deal worth it.

Khan needs to get with it, or Aiyuk will soon be in the AFC North with the Cleveland Browns. It wouldn't be a panic move simply to keep Aiyuk from Pittsburgh's biggest rival. Over four seasons, Aiyuk has put up 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns.

This is a move that needs to be made if the Steelers plan to be a playoff contender in 2024.
