REPORT: Steelers 'for sure' still in trade discussions for 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk
Sources are all over the place about exactly which teams are still involved in trade discussions for Brandon Aiyuk. Watching the news bounce back and forth between reputable reporters has become a game of tennis, and who will win is anybody's guess.
The 49ers' star receiver has been the hottest topic of the offseason, especially for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who lack an experienced top-flight pass-catcher.
Late Monday night, much to the dismay of Steelers fans, it was reported that Pittsburgh is out of the mix for Aiyuk. This afternoon ESPN's Adam Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show that he doesn't expect the Steelers to be a landing spot for Aiyuk.
But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says not so fast.
"My understanding is that the Pittsburgh Steelers has had discussions with the 49ers about potentially trading [for] Brandon Aiyuk," Rapoport said. "They are for sure in it right now. They're one of several teams that the 49ers are speaking with."
Rapoport stated that the 49ers are farther along with the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots than they are the Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers appear down but not out to acquire Brandon Aiyuk, the piece they need to really get the offense going in 2024.
