South Carolina men's basketball 2024 transfer tracker: Updates on Lamont Paris' roster

COLUMBIA — After finishing 26-8, South Carolina basketball used the offseason and transfer portal to add new faces for coach Lamont Paris' roster.

The Gamecocks tied for second in the SEC after being voted last in SEC preseason poll. South Carolina finished No. 23 in USA TODAY Sports coaches poll.

The portal opened March 18 and closed May 1, which gave players a 45-day window to decide if they want to enter the portal.

Who is leaving South Carolina basketball via the portal

Meechie Johnson: Two years after he left Ohio State to transfer to South Carolina, the 2023-24 leading scorer announced on April 2 that he was going back to Ohio State. Johnson averaged 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for the Gamecocks. Johnson missed just one game with a knee injury, starting the other 33 games.

Ebrima Dibba: Dibba entered the transfer portal on March 26. Dibba, a graduate student, came to South Carolina for the 2022-23 season but an Achilles injury prevented him from playing his first season. Dibba played just four games in 2023-24.

Josh Gray: Gray reportedly entered the transfer portal on April 20, after playing three seasons with the Gamecocks, following his freshman year at LSU. Gray, a 7-foot senior, played 31 games this season, averaging 3.2 points per game and gathered 87 total rebounds on the year. Gray had a season high 15 points in February against Georgia. In his junior season, Gray played all 32 games and started in 15.

Who is joining South Carolina basketball via the portal

Jordan Butler: Butler announced he was transferring to the Gamecocks on April 21, transferring from Mizzou. The 7-footer played at Greenville's Christ Church Episcopal School, which he helped lead to state championships in 2021 and 2023. He was a four-star player, the No. 2 prospect in South Carolina in the 2023 class, and ranked No. 18 among centers according to 247Sports.

Nick Pringle: Pringle announced he was transferring to South Carolina via his Instagram page on April 28. He is 6-foot-10 and attended Whale Branch High School in Seabrook, South Carolina. Pringle started his college career at Wofford before transferring to Dodge City Community College and then transferred to Alabama ahead of the 2022-23 season. Pringle averaged 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season in 34 games. He averaged 6.2 points and 6.2 rebounds during the NCAA Tournament run.

Jamarii Thomas: Thomas, a 6-foot junior, announced on May 5 he was joining South Carolina men's basketball which is huge for the Gamecocks. The guard spot lacked with the departure of Johnson and Thomas' skillset elevates Paris' offense. Thomas averaged 16.9 points for Norfolk State last season and was named MEAC Player of the Year. He originally transferred to VCU but days later, flipped his commitment.
