South Carolina basketball adds Alabama transfer Nick Pringle from transfer portal
South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris is adding a player he has a lot of familiarity with.
Former Alabama basketball player Nick Pringle has committed to the Gamecocks from the transfer portal, a move he announced Saturday evening via his Instagram page. The 6-foot-10 forward attended Whale Branch High School in Seabrook, South Carolina, so it's a return home for him. Pringle began his collegiate career at Wofford before transferring to Dodge City Community College in Dodge, Kansas. He transferred to Alabama ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Pringle averaged 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season in 34 games. His biggest contribution was 16 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes against Clemson in the Elite Eight to send Alabama to its first ever Final Four. He posted the double-double despite being hobbled with a heel injury. He averaged 6.2 points and 6.2 rebounds during the NCAA Tournament run.
Nick Pringle commits to South Carolina following weekend visit
Pringle committed to the Gamecocks following a weekend visit. During the 2022-23 season, Pringle averaged 3.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Against South Carolina last season, Pringle had three points, four rebounds, two blocks and two assists in an Alabama 74-47 victory on Jan. 9.
