Will Shipley hears from Saquon Barkley soon after Eagles pick Clemson star in NFL draft
CLEMSON — After the Philadelphia Eagles selected former Clemson football running back Will Shipley in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday, he revealed new teammate Saquon Barkley reached out to him.
Shipley shared Barkley texted him: "Congratulations. Get ready to work."
Shipley said he is a huge fan of Barkley and has followed his career from his time at Penn State to his stint with the New York Giants. Barkley signed with the Eagles this offseason after spending six seasons with the Giants.
The former Tigers player said he is excited to be a part of a running back room with Barkley and Kenneth Gainwell and will do whatever is asked of him to contribute to the Eagles.
Shipley was the seventh running back taken in the draft and the third Clemson player selected. He rushed for 827 yards and five touchdowns, and had 244 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 12 games last season.
