South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer had plenty of praise for Gamecocks women's basketball coach, Dawn Staley on Monday.

During the 2024 SEC Media Days in Dallas, Beamer answered a question about his relationship with Staley and called her a great friend.

"(Staley) is fantastic, it's great for me to be able to watch her coach, learn from her, go and watch her team practice ... even last season early on I called her to talk about some things. Coaching is coaching, teaching is teaching ... there's a lot of things I've learned from her. She's willing to do anything for our program."

When asked if Beamer and Staley exchange advice, he responded, "I don't think she needs any from me."

This wasn't the first time that Beamer has praised Staley or mentioned her team. In April, Beamer brought Staley out to speak to his team during spring practice and a few days later, Staley supported the Gamecocks at the 2024 Garnet & Black Spring Game.

Beamer traveled to Cleveland to watch Staley and the women's basketball team win the 2024 national championship on April 7.

Beamer said on Monday that back in January, when he and the football program met with potential recruits, a lot of them requested meetings with Staley. Beamer said she found time even in the middle of her season to meet with about eight recruits, and she's been to his house to meet recruits as well.

"She doesn't need my help but she's asked me a couple of times over the years to help with recruits on campus and I'm willing to do whatever I can," Beamer said.
