Scott McLaughlin offers a suspicious invitation to IndyCar points leader Alex Palou
If you can't beat 'em, poison 'em. Or at least food poison 'em.
Scott McLaughlin is third in the IndyCar Series points standings heading into this weekend's race at Nashville Superspeedway. He trails leader Alex Palou by 50 points, and Penske teammate Will Power by 17. If Palou takes the green flag Sunday, McLaughlin is eliminated from the championship race.
McLaughlin, being a good sport and all, has invited Palou to dine with him this weekend. His meal choice: sushi.
Hey @AlexPalou, wanted to invite you over for dinner this week. I’m making sushi from scratch, don’t worry though, my fish guy is legit.

McLaughlin didn't specify whether his "fish guy" worked at a seafood market or a gas station.
Palou pondered the invitation, then kindly declined.
What's at stake this weekend: Leaders Circle spots, career milestones to track at Nashville
After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I must respectfully decline your offer @smclaughlin93 🙂↕️
