REPORT: Deal between Steelers and Niners is 'one phone call away'
The Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers continue to hold the NFL world in suspense for another day as the two sides keep going back and forth on what may or may not end up being a huge trade sending wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Steelers.
ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler offered up the first update of Wednesday nothing the Steelers are still motivated to trade for Aiyuk and according to one source, the deal is "one phone call away" from being done.
Any trade between the Steelers and Niners becomes much more complicated due to the inclusion of the huge contract Aiyuk is expecting this offseason, regardless of where he is playing.
#Steelers remain motivated on a Brandon Aiyuk deal, but trade talks with #49ers were quiet in recent days as S.F. decides whether to extend the WR at a price point he would accept.
As one source pointed out, the team is ‘one phone call away’ on deal, with parameters in place.— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) August 14, 2024
The one party involved in all this who is going to come out on top is Aiyuk. He's basically leveraging both sides of this to get to play for the team he wants to and get his huge payday.
