Report: Bills’ Bobby Babich has third interview with Dolphins

The Buffalo Bills have a realistic chance to lose linebackers coach Bobby Babich as he reportedly has a third team that’s going to interview him for their defensive coordinator opening.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Babich will chat with the Miami Dolphins about their vacant DC position. Babich also reportedly had interview requests with the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers.

Babich is not the lone Buffalo connection interviewing for the position as well. Former Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier will also interview.

Babich, 40, has worked on Sean McDermott’s coaching staff as a defensive assistant. Babich came to Buffalo with his father, Bob, in 2017. The elder Babich coached linebackers for five seasons in Buffalo. He retired after the 2021 season.

Currently the Bills do not have a defensive coordinator in place as McDermott served in that role last season. However, the team has begun interview candidates to potentially have another person in place for next season.

It remains to be seen if McDermott would give up play-calling duties in such a scenario. Because of that, even an internal candidate, such as Babich, could end up leaving Buffalo if another team offered him that opportunity.

Bills Wire will continue to provide coaching staff updates throughout the offseason.
