Pros and cons of Houston Texans picking Auburn football’s Marcus Harris in 2024 NFL Draft
Auburn football's Marcus Harris is officially an NFL rookie after being picked by the Houston Texans in the 2024 NFL draft.
Harris was selected 247th overall in the seventh round. He spent five years in college, with two of those seasons coming at Kansas from 2019-20 and the final three coming with the Tigers from 2021-23.

What Marcus Harris brings to Houston Texans in 2024 NFL Draft
Harris began his collegiate career at Kansas, where he stayed for two seasons before he transferred to Auburn in May 2021. A three-star recruit originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Harris was rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 1,968 player in the Class of 2019.
Marcus Harris highlights, strengths, weaknesses at Auburn football
The 6-foot-2, 286-pound Harris had a standout season in 2023, totaling career-high marks in tackles (40), tackles for loss (11) and sacks (seven). He had two games as a fifth-year senior in which he tallied more than one sack − 1.5 against Ole Miss in October and 1.5 at Arkansas in November. He was also able to bring down Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25. He's a bit smaller than the average defensive lineman, but he's shown year-over-year improvement throughout his career.

Harris appeared in 37 games at Auburn, totaling 97 tackles (55 solo), 23.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, two pass deflections, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. At Kansas, Harris tallied 29 tackles (18 solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
