Former four-star CB Colton Hood enters transfer portal after one season at Auburn football

AUBURN — An up-and-coming cornerback has entered the transfer portal after one season with Auburn football.

Colton Hood, a former four-star recruit rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 373 player in the Class of 2023, has entered the portal, a source confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser on Tuesday. Hood had been playing his way up the depth chart throughout the spring, seemingly behind only the starters on the outside in Kayin Lee and Keionte Scott.

Hood appeared in four games as a true freshman in 2023, tallying three total tackles.

"He just finds the ball very well," Scott said of Hood on March 28. "I feel like it's a lot of the receiver he played in high school. We've all watched each other's tapes, so he was a very good receiver and I feel like he transfers that into his DB play. Being able to find the ball is something he excels in, so if that ball's in the air, everybody knows Colton Hood has a shot at taking it away."
