Oklahoma State baseball is No. 11 seed in NCAA Tournament: See Stillwater Regional bracket

STILLWATER — Fresh off their Big 12 Tournament title, the Oklahoma State baseball team will be the No. 11 seed in the NCAA baseball tournament, set to host a four-team regional this weekend at O’Brate Stadium.

The Cowboys (40-17) will bring Nebraska, Florida and Niagara to the double-elimination Stillwater Regional, scheduled to run Friday-Monday.

OSU will open with Niagara at 6 p.m. Friday, following the 2 p.m. opener between Nebraska and Florida.

“We’re excited that it’s here in Stillwater, that’s for sure,” OSU coach Josh Holliday said shortly after the bracket announcement. “There’s gonna be four great teams. Teams that travel in here obviously have done something to get here. Who they end up being, and all the different things that go into it really can’t be the mood-setter.

“The mood-setter is our team. The confidence we have in one another, the way we’re playing and the joy of continuing to play. That’s been our thought process all along.”

The Pokes were the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 Tournament and rolled to the title behind strong pitching, knocking off Bedlam rival OU 9-3 in the title game. The Pokes have won nine of their last 10 games entering the NCAA Tournament.

The Cowboys’ recent success in particular has been with a strong balance of good pitching and potent offense, something Holliday ties back to his team’s togetherness.

“This team is their own unique team,” he said. “They’re made up of an awesome, diverse group of kids from all walks of life and backgrounds. They’re fun and goofy, but when it comes time to play ball, they’re focused and extremely competitive, which is something I really admire about them.

“I think we’re prepared for this. I think we’ve got the right kids, the right ingredients. I feel as good about this group as I have in quite some time.”

The Stillwater Regional aligns with the Clemson Regional hosted by the sixth-seeded Tigers for the super-regional round.

This is the third straight year in which OSU has hosted a regional at O’Brate Stadium, though the Pokes haven’t won a regional since 2019.

“We’ve been waiting all year for this moment,” OSU slugger Nolan Schubart said. “No matter who (the opponent) is, you prepare the same way. Every team’s got what they’re really good at and they have their holes, just like we do. And we’ll attack the holes.

“I’ll take our team over anybody.”
