OKC Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ranks second in the latest MVP ladder

OKC Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stayed put at No. 2 in NBA.com's latest MVP ladder, which released Saturday.

Gilgeous-Alexander recorded 32 points and five assists in OKC's lone game last week, which was a 127-113 win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday. Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic holds the top spot.

1. Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets

Last week's rankings: No. 1

Season stats: 26.1 points, 12 rebounds and 8.9 assists

Jokic averaged 22 points, 8.5 rebounds and eight assists in two games last week for Denver (36-19), which went 0-2.

Jokic failed to record a double double in Denver's loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday for just the ninth time this season. Still, the ninth-year center remains at the top of the MVP ladder.

2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC Thunder

Last week's rankings: No. 2

Season stats: 31.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists

After scoring 32 points against Orlando on Tuesday, Gilgeous-Alexander made his first start in the All-Star Game on Sunday.

The sixth-year guard didn't disappoint. Gilgeous-Alexander recorded 31 points and six assists for the Western Conference in a 211-186 loss.

3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks

Last week's rankings: No. 3

Season stats: 30.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists

Antetokounmpo averaged 31.3 points, 11 rebounds and 8.3 assists this past week for Milwaukee (35-21), which went 1-2.

Milwaukee is 3-7 since it hired Doc Rivers as its head coach. Still, Antetokounmpo is shooting a career-high 61.6% from the floor and is looking to win his third MVP.

4. Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks

Last week's rankings: No. 4

Season stats: 34.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 9.5 assists

Doncic averaged 26.5 points, 10 rebounds and 11.5 assists last week for Dallas (32-23), which went 2-0.

The Mavericks are on a six-game winning streak thanks in large part to Doncic, who remains in the hunt for his first MVP.

5. Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics

Last week's rankings: No. 5

Season stats: 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists

Tatum averaged 30.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and seven assists last week for Boston (43-12), which went 2-0.

Tatum scored 41 points against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. It marked the third 40-point performance of the season by the seventh-year forward, who's the driving force behind the best team in the league.
